Toyota Spare Tire Cable Recall Does NOT affect Mobility Customers

Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan with side entry rampAs many of you are aware, Toyota has issued another recall on the spare tire carrier on certain year Sienna minivans.  Some 600,000 minivans are being recalled due to a spare tire cable corrosion issue.

Fortunately for mobility customers, this recall does not affect any BraunAbility/IMS Rampvan.  During the lowered floor conversion process, the OEM spare tire location is moved to the rear cargo area behind the third row seats, and all the components affected by the recall are removed.

You may receive calls from Toyota regarding the recall if you have a Sienna minivan that is being recalled.  Know that this is because Toyota has not registered the vehicle as “remedied” yet.  We assure you that the recall does not affect vans with a lowered floor conversion.  Watch your mail for an Interim Notice of Recall.  Once that is received you should contact your local Toyota dealer and schedule a preliminary inspection to stop recall notices.  During the inspection, the dealer will look for the affected spare tire carrier.  Download this Proof of Removal Notice and bring it with you to the Toyota dealership.
