A Day At The Races
It was a day filled with excitement and celebration of a life without limits as the Ralph W. Braun Spirit of Ability Award was presented to veteran, athlete and all-around inspiration, Holly Koester. MC Mobility Systems teamed up with BraunAbility and the Sam Schmidt Motorsport Team to host a thrilling “Day at the Races” at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, where Holly was recognized for her involvement in the disabilities community and extraordinary life achievements.
While serving as a Captain in the United States Army, Holly was involved in an automobile accident that rendered her paralyzed, forcing her to retire from the forces. Holly’s determination to let no obstacle stop her from living a fulfilling and productive life has led her down a truly remarkable path. Despite her injuries, Holly has earned numerous gold metals at 23 National Veterans Wheelchair Games, completed wheelchair marathons in all 50 states, and played an important role in the lives of countless individuals and athletes with disabilities, as well as their families. Holly is also heavily involved in the Buckeye Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, an organization she chose to receive the $1,000 donation included with her award.
