Celebrations For The 25th Anniversary Of The ADA To Begin In Ohio

July 26, 2015 marks the 25th
Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the equal opportunity law that’s purpose is to provide clear and comprehensive national standards to eliminate discrimination against individuals with disabilities.

To commemorate the occasion, three Ohio cities are hosting celebration days full of fun and activities! Want to find an event near you? Details are below!

Cleveland

When: July 22, 2015
Where: University Circle’s Wade Oval
ADA Celebration: 11:00am – 4:00pm
Wade Oval Wednesday: 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Cleveland is hosting a
day-long celebration for the 25th Anniversary of the ADA on Wednesday, July 22, at the Wade Oval! Rain or shine, the event is scheduled to begin at 11:00am with a guest appearance from the Mayor; the day will continue with music, food, adaptive games and activities, and awards, until 4:00pm. The celebration will also feature the ADA Legacy Tour Bus.

The ADA celebration is followed by University Circle’s “WOW! Wade Oval Wednesdays,” where participating agencies and organizations from the afternoon event will keep their booths and tables open throughout Wade Oval Wednesday, allowing for continued community engagement and further celebration of the ADA! The entire day’s events will conclude at 9:00pm.

Cincinnati

When: July 27, 2015
Where: Fountain Square
ADA Celebration: 9:30am – 2:00pm

Cincinnati is hosting a day of celebration and reflection of the 25th Anniversary of the ADA on Monday, July 27, in downtown Cincinnati. The celebration’s theme is “Disability Rights and Civil Rights.” The day is scheduled to begin with a Disability Pride Walk from Cincinnati’s City Hall to Fountain Square. From 10am – 2pm at Fountain Square, information booths, activities, guest speakers, food and entertainment will be provided for the general public to learn about the ADA.

Columbus

When: July 22-July 23, 2015
Where: Columbus Commons
ADA Celebration: 11:00am – 9:00pm

Columbus is hostiada_bus.smaller_0ng a celebration for the 25th Anniversary of the ADA that begins on Wednesday, July 22, with an Opening Ceremony at Columbus State Community College at 7:00pm.

The celebration continues on Thursday, July 23, at Columbus Commons, featuring the ADA Legacy Tour Bus, exhibitors, and a food truck lunch with 10 delicious options to choose from! There will also be free on-site repairs and maintenance for manual and power wheelchairs by Sunrise Medical. The day’s events will be followed by a 7:00pm concert.
