CarFit: Helping Mature Drivers Find Their Safest Fit

At M.C. Mobility Systems, we provide assistive driving equipment for a range of abilities, offering an opportunity to maintain driving independence. And while we can help those with disabilities stay on the road, safety is the most important. That’s why we would like to promote CarFit. CarFit was developed by the American Society on Aging in collaboration with AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association.

It’s a community-based program that provides a quick, yet comprehensive 12-point check of how well you and your car work together. While older drivers are often the safest by wearing seat belts and driving the speed limit, they are more likely to become seriously injured or killed in the event of an accident. CarFit helps to improve safety by ensuring cars are properly adjusted for seniors. A proper fit in one’s car can greatly increase not only the driver’s safety but also the safety of others.

CarFit holds several events across the country, where a team of trained technicians and health professionals work with attendees to make sure they “fit” with their vehicle for maximum comfort and safety. In addition to peace of mind, you’ll leave with recommended car adjustments, adaptations and a list of local resources to help you further. See a schedule of Ohio Carfit Events below:
